Keith Worsman was born in Yorkshire. He studied piano and organ. During his time in the Army, he was Garrison Church Organist in Malta and made 13 recordings for radio broadcast in the Anglican Cathedral there. From there, in 1962-3 he moved to be Assistant Organist at Bradford Cathedral under Dr. Charles Hooper and studied under Donald Hunt of Leeds Parish Church.
He was then Organist & Choirmaster in Pudsey before coming to Lancaster in 1967, joining the Priory Choir, and becoming Assistant Organist soon afterwards.
He became Lancaster Priory Organist on the 1st April 1986 and has broadcast for television, including the Service of Mattins for the 300th anniversary of Thomas Cranmer.
He was appointed Honorary Organist for the City of Lancaster in June 1994 and has played for a number of Royal Occasions, the most recent being the visit of Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip to Lancaster Priory on 23rd July 1999.
Keith retired as Lancaster Priory Organist in May 2000, handing over the keys to Jeremy Truslove. He returns occasionally to play for a Service. He has been awarded the title and dignity of Organist Emeritus in recognition of his outstanding and loyal service. He remains Lancaster City Organist.
